Welcome to Fiber Arts Friday! Another week has passed and I managed to jump from one project to another. My bobbins are still full so none of my yarn was plied. They are taunting me. I decided that I needed to ply them in one sitting and by the time I got home from work each night, I was exhausted. The plying will be my special project for the weekend.I did take my Evanstar of Wonder mittens out of their time out. After a lot of thinking and rethinking, I went forward with my modifications to the pattern and it worked. I sort of took notes so we'll see if the left mitten looks like the right. I see in two spots where my cables aren't quite right but at this time, I don't want to tear them back. I'll finish the left then decide.
I also warped my loom for a new scarf for me. Yes, me! The warp is Alpaca and the weft is 100% Silk. It's going to be a very fine scarf and perfect for spring. I'm not weaving anything fancy. I'm going to let the beautiful yarn do all of the work.
So that's been my Fiber Arts Week. Nerd Wars sign ups are going on right now and I signed up to be on Team Precious again. I don't think I'll ever run out of inspiration from Middle Earth. This is Tournament 7 and I've been playing since Tournament 3. I do love how the games inspire me to create more projects.
Next week I hope to share all of my new yarns that I will have plied, more progress on my weaving and maybe a left mitten. It's a holiday weekend this week so I may just get a some of the work done. Now, share your adventures in Fiber Arts!

ReplyDeleteI love your weaving, all of them look so tantalising and this one is no exception. Good luck with your mittens!
ReplyDeleteYour mittens look great Andrea and I can't wait to see what comes off your loom next. Hope you're all keeping warm there. I can't believe how cold it's been the past few days. Happy Fiber Arts Friday!
ReplyDeleteAndrea--I can't wait to see your finished scarf. It sounds like the most perfect, softest combination of fibers ever! XXO-
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your Nerd Wars! I too am always in awe of your weaving.

Your mittens look so cozy!
ReplyDeleteOh my...your mitten looks lovely. Maybe someone can give you some advice about fixing the error instead of ribbing it out. Kathryn sure saved my butt on the Raxtur hat.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your extra day off!!
Your scarf sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour scarf is looking beautiful so far. I had to laugh after you wrote that you are not doing anything fancy. Oh my, you are using silk and alpaca, and what looks to be several colours---that's fancy in my books! I love it.
ReplyDeleteLoving your color choices for that scarf. The mittens look very elegant. I think they look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou know how I love your weaving, and this one will be just as beautiful! And the mittens will be so cozy and cute.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mitten and they look nice and warm. I made a pair with a similar pattern and mixed up the cables but left it that way; I'm sure I'm the only one that noticed.
ReplyDeleteCool, cheers Marie
ReplyDeleteVery nice mitterns. Love the colour of your new scarf.
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea - how are you?!!!! I'm loving that scarf you're making for yourself - can't wait to see it done. And that mitten looks might-y warm. Cheers, and have a great long weekend - relax with the fiber crafts!
